The Forum on Education Abroad held its 18th annual conference –this year in person– in Chicago on March 21st-25th, 2022. Virtual Internships’ Chief Academic Officer, Jillian Low was in attendance delivering a presentation entitled, “What We’ve Learned About Online Global Learning and Sustainable Models for the Future,” along with PJ Shoulders from the Study Abroad Association and Marty McGivern from DePaul University.
The buzz of being back together to share ideas and network against the exciting backdrop of Chicago all culminated in lively and fruitful exchange and collaboration.
Jillian had the opportunity to connect with several colleagues in the industry including:
- Annie Hyde from the University of Missouri, Saint Louis
- Sara Gutierrez from the University of New Mexico
- Lee Newton from Bradley University
- Chris Sippel from Findlay University
- Grace Cleary from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
- Emily Maurer and William Hyndman from Florida A&M University
- Sara Mumma from Indiana University
All-in-all, the forum did not disappoint with an engaging program and lively discussions throughout. We now await the intriguing European forum, EMEA Forum on Education Abroad, in Milan on October 19th-21st, 2022. Perhaps even more exciting is the addition of the brand new Career-Integrated Learning Conference (CILC), also hosted in Milan, which will have its debut on October 17-19th, 2022, just before the EMEA Forum!
The theme for these two conferences is “Open to Each Other: Elevating Voices and Expanding Global Dialogues,” which could not be more appropriate at a time when global unity and open international dialogue are essential.
