
China Skills Training Programme
delivered by Virtual Internships
Virtual Internships are excited to be partnering with CRCC Asia and the British Council to offer students and recent graduates the opportunity to complete a Virtual Internships Programme with host companies based in China. This 5 week programme offers participants the chance to interact with one of over 250 Chinese companies. Interns will work in groups to complete projects and attend a schedule of synchronous (live) sessions delivered by our in-house internship coaches, coaching calls and more.
These companies are excited to host UK students and recent graduates who are interested in acquiring valuable skills and work experience to take the next step in their career!
The China Skills Training programme (online) is supported by the Department for Education, the Scottish Government, and the Welsh Government. The final date to submit the full application is Friday 17th of February 2023 for the 27th of February 2023 start date.
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Consulting Project with China based Host Company
All participants will work in assigned groups to present a consulting solution supporting the companies sustainability, recruitment, or marketing.
Live Professional Development and Chinese Culture Related Workshops
Participants will come together weekly to build their employability toolkit and explore key tools to complete the consultancy project.
Access to Employability Online Curriculum & Coaching
All participants will have full access to CareerBridge, our online employability curriculum to support their success during the programme and long after.
Join a Network of Like-Minded Individuals
Throughout the programme, participants will have the opportunity to connect and debrief weekly in facilitated conversations.
An introduction to Mandarin Chinese language
- *This is a fully-funded programme and there is no cost to students. Please be aware that there is a £50 refundable deposit. You will need to pay this to secure your place and this will be returned to you on completion of the programme.

PROGRAMME DATES
Applicants should be aware that although the course is 5 weeks long, there is a requirement to engage with the Virtual Internships team before the programme start date. There is also a requirement to complete an evaluation, your final coaching call, the mandarin lessons and submission of the weekly group projects to fully complete the programme. An individual final project called “China Challenge” may also be required.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE PROGRAMME
To be eligible to apply for the British Council China Skills Training Programme, you must:
Be at least 18 years old
Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or postgraduate student at a UK university, or have graduated from one within the past two years
Be a UK passport holder if studying in England or Wales, or if you are studying in Scotland, be a UK, or EU passport holder.
Have achieved, or be on track to achieve, a 2:1 degree
Meet our student finance eligibility criteria (please download and read the financial eligibility document at the bottom of the page)
Not be in receipt of any other British Council Generation UK funding or previously undertaken a British Council Generation UK internship, or taken part in a Generation UK scholarship programme
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications are open for those who are studying or who have graduated from a University in England, Scotland or Wales, and applicants must complete the following to be considered for the programme:

Complete Registration Form
You’ll then receive an email with instructions to complete a written application answering (a) your motivation for joining the programme and (b) your UK-China knowledge.

Upload Supporting Documents
Including your CV, copy of your most recent transcript or degree certificate, evidence of your financial eligibility (maintenance loan or bursary confirmation), and a copy of your UK passport (or EU passport if studying in Scotland).


Short Video Interview
Finally, you’ll be required to answer three questions via a short video interview process which should only take 1-2 minutes to answer each question.
